Eugene Portman has performed extensively in Clwyd, Debighshire and other areas of Wales. Eugene Portman's music is always easy to listen to and consists of great tunes performed in an original style. His success has sprung from a need for jazz that wasn't too high-brow, but consisted of great tunes. A style of music that would have a more general appeal than most contemporary jazz musicians. His main influences have been Dudley Moore, Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson and Monty Alexander. These influences combined with an innovative creativity have been instrumental in making Eugene highly suitable for corporate events, weddings and private parties. The music can be mellow at times and exciting when the mood calls for it.

Eugene also works with four jazz vocalists and they are: Alice Harvey from Derby, David Edwards from East Grinstead, West Sussex and Sheila Daniels From Cheam, Surrey. Eugene either works with the above singers just with piano or he frequently uses his trio which consists of Eugene on piano, Dave Trigwell on drums and Mike Porter Ward on bass. All this allows for a lot of flexibility as far as line ups are concerned and he can usually provide an ensemble to fit any budget.
